Relefant - the first steps towards your digital biography

To start building your personal biography, you’ll need to register with Relefant. Don’t worry - this initial registration is free. You’ll only need a membership once you’ve tried out Relefant and decided to keep using it.

Getting started is easy and quick: When you open the app or web app for the first time, you’ll see options to either register as a new user or log in with an existing account.

If you’re a new user, choose ‘Register with e-mail.’ We’ll ask for a few details like your country, gender, name, email address, and birthdate.

Pick a password that’s both memorable and secure.

Finally, you’ll need to agree to our terms and conditions to complete the registration.

After submitting and confirming your details, we’ll send you an email with a verification link. Just open your email, click the link, and you’ll be automatically logged into the Relefant app. Should you be unable to find the confirmation mail in your inbox, make sure to check your spam folder.

To help you get started with Relefant, we've put together a list of significant events that you're likely familiar with. We may not know all the details of your experiences, but by sharing a bit about your interests, we’ll suggest events that could jog your memory and inspire your personal stories.

Interested in politics and born in 1960? The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 likely left a mark on you. A soccer fan living in Germany and 53 years old? You probably remember the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and Germany’s victory.

You don’t have to answer these questions now - you can skip them and update your preferences later. You can even choose to hide global events entirely if you wish.

After registering and answering a few questions about your interests, you’ll arrive at the main Relefant interface - the timeline. This chronological view starts with historical events based on your personal details and interests. The timeline is already divided into life stages, which you can customize later.

From the timeline, you can easily add personal memories. Here are three different ways to do so:

• Add an entry to a life stage by tapping or clicking the + icon under that section.
• Add an entry to a specific year in the timeline using the + symbol next to the year.
• Use the large + icon at the bottom right of the screen.

Depending on your choice, time-related details will be pre-filled, allowing you to dive straight into documenting your memory. You can include photos, write text, or add video and audio recordings.

You don’t need to finalize every detail right away; sometimes a simple placeholder is enough for a memory you want to elaborate on later.

You can also link people to your entries and assign relevant categories, though these steps are optional.

Remember to save your entry - you'll then return to the timeline overview where you can see your new addition. Your first memory is ready! If you need to make changes or add more information, just open the entry and edit it.

At the bottom of your screen, you’ll find a menu bar with three key sections for managing your memories:

• The first button brings you to the timeline view, where your memories are organized chronologically.

• The second button opens a list of memories that dont have any time related information stored for them. This area is empty at first but is perfect for capturing those special moments that don't fit into specific dates or life stages. Think about jotting down details about a beloved pet, a cherished object, or a meaningful place.

• The third button focuses on the people who matter most in your life. This section starts out empty too. Here, you can write about your family or friends and later link those to memories in other sections of the app. Once linked, you can easily access all memories associated with a particular person.

These are just the basics to get you started with Relefant. Try it out and see how easily you can capture and organize your memories!
